Today we’re excited to be spotlighting a marvellous game made using Synty – ADACA! Developed and published by Siris Pendrake, a solo indie developer, and released on Steam in July 2022.

Siris is an LGBTQIA+ identifying, self taught 3D artist and programmer who has been working in games for over 10 years, with ADACA being their first commercially successful game.

ADACA is a sci-fi, first person shooter set on the mysterious planet ADACA, where you must explore and manipulate the environment of an eerie and hostile world. Players are tasked with using their gravity-manipulating arm to hurl objects at their foes, or even rip weapons directly from their hands!
The episodic sandbox FPS was heavily inspired by story-driven titles of the late 1990's and early 2000's, and features a heavy emphasis on exploration and manipulation of the environment to defeat your foes and solve puzzles using your robotic arm.

Siris used a large array of Synty packs in the development of this game, mostly sci-fi themed. They also did a large amount of editing and kit-bashing, mixing the Synty assets with other assets as well as their own work to bring the nostalgic world of ADACA to life.

As Kotaku put it, ADACA is ultimately “an excellent indie shooter made by a solo dev” which delivers impressive world design, well thought out level flow, and polished atmosphere.

Good news is, Siris is now working on a new, much larger game called Project Silverfish. It also heavily leans on Synty assets with even more customization, and is out now in early access on Steam for you to check out! You can follow Siris on Itch to stay up to date with their work.
Happy Global Pride, and thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this spotlight on ADACA then you’d probably enjoy being part of the Synty community, sharing the game dev journey with thousands of experienced and aspiring developers on Discord, Instagram, X or Facebook.
